Do you know what the abbreviations for cashews stand for?

You'll often see written and numerical labels for cashews. The letters in front of the number indicate the quality of the nut. The highest commercial grade is WW (White Wholes), sometimes marked only as W. Kernels in this grade must be essentially perfect, uniform and free of visible defects. They are light in colour and have a fine creamy consistency. The size of the nuts is determined by a numerical value indicating the number of kernels present in 1 pound (lb) = 0,45 kg. That is, the lower the number, the larger the cashew nut. Thus, the designation WW180 means that you will find 180 whole cashews in 1 lb, whereas you will find 320 in WW320 cashews.
