Carob was a traditional and very popular ingredient used in ancient Rome and Greece. It is very similar in taste to cocoa and is suitable as a substitute. Compared to cocoa, carob has a naturally sweet taste and about a third less calorific value due to its lower fat content. It has a higher carbohydrate content than cocoa, so it does not need to be sweetened unnecessarily.
Our carob powder is organic quality. It is processed in a very gentle way and does not contain GMO ingredients.
Use
Dose carob according to your own discretion. Use in similar quantities as cocoa.
TIPS
Carob can be used as a substitute for both cocoa and coffee. Mix e.g. 10-20 g of carob powder with water or milk (150-200 ml) and you will get a delicious drink. You can freely add it to smoothies, porridge or dough when baking.
