Pine nuts are the white seeds of the evergreen pine tree, which can reach a height of up to 30 metres. They are therefore not nuts and can be enjoyed even by people with allergies to dry nuts. Pines are characteristic of the Mediterranean, particularly in Italy, where they are commonly used. 

Pine nuts are a delicacy with a smooth buttery consistency and a pleasant sweet taste with hints of resin.

Pine nuts have a wide range of uses in the kitchen:

• suitable for sweet dishes
• roasted in salads, pasta or couscous
• an indispensable ingredient in basil pesto
• suitable for baking dough or as a garnish for desserts
• coarsely chopped, they add zing to creamy soups or sauces
• in blended form, add to legume or vegetable spreads
