Chocolate lovers, beware, we have a recipe for you to improve your mood in cold and chilly weather. Prepare chocolate the way the ancient Mayans loved it. Liquid, creamy and real. NATU hot chocolate is made with only two ingredients - selected cocoa beans and natural cane juice in organic quality. Nothing more. No substitutes, no solidified fats or artificial flavours. The result is a creamy consistency, addictive aroma and rich, fulfilling flavour.

Sparingly processed chocolate is a superfood that gives you energy and contains many nutrients. It will warm you body and soul and, as a bonus, satisfy your sweet tooth.

Cocoa beans come from two locations - the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. In the Dominican Republic, cocoa trees are grown on 150 thousand hectares. The quality of its production is considered to be among the best in the world.

Do you know what the cocoa bean harvest looks like?

Cocoa beans are harvested from evergreen cocoa trees (Theobroma cacao). They are native to South America, but today cocoa trees are also grown in Tanzania, Brazil and Vietnam. They grow to a height of 5-8 metres, have large and long leaves and bloom pinkish-white flowers. These turn into fruits - yellow berries with seeds (cocoa beans). Harvesting the fruit is not easy. Neither is the path from it to cocoa or even chocolate. Cocoa pods are harvested continuously throughout the year, but there are two main harvests: in February and then between September and October. The ripe pods are cut from the tree with a tool that resembles a long spear. They are then neatly opened on the ground with a machete. The juicy flesh of the beans, known as 'baba', is hand-picked and collected in crates. The empty husks of the cocoa pods are left under the trees as fertiliser and as an attractant for insects, which do not attack the still hanging fruit.

Preparation:

In a small pot, heat 100 to 150 ml of water or milk just below boiling point (the water should not boil). For a thicker consistency, choose a version with less liquid.

Add 25 g of chocolate (about 3 tablespoons) and stir with a whisk over a low heat until the mixture comes together and becomes creamy.

Pour the finished chocolate into your favourite cup and sweeten to your taste if necessary.
