Almonds are the kernels of the fruit of the almond tree, which is closely related to the peach and apricot. They are a nutshell fruit, like hazelnuts or walnuts. The largest producers of almonds in the world are the United States of America (especially California), Australia and Europe.

The almonds probably originated in western Asia, from where they spread around the world. They are nutritionally very rich and therefore popular not only among athletes. Natural almonds contain a typical brown skin, which gives them a full flavour and concentrates beneficial substances.

Almonds have also found a place in the cosmetics industry. Almond oil is extracted from them and added to skin and body creams

TIPS for use:

  1. Breakfast porridge: Add a few almonds to porridge in combination with fruit.
  2. Smoothies.
  3. Almond Milk: Blend two cups of warm water and a cup of almonds with a powerful blender. Strain the resulting drink. Season the milk with cardamom, saffron, ghee and a teaspoon of honey. You can use the remaining pulp to make pancakes, fritters or use it to make a brightening face mask.
  4. Almond butter: blend almonds in a high-powered blender until fine. You can add natural sweeteners and a pinch of salt for flavouring.
  5. Baking.
  6. Flavouring food. Reach for almonds for flavouring inspiration. They're great in sweet and savoury dishes.
  7. Amlou: Mix almonds with argan oil, honey and a pinch of salt for a delicious Moroccan spread!
  8. Marzipan
  9. Macaroons: Traditional French macaroons are simply made with egg whites, ground almonds and sugar.
  10. Turrón: Make a traditional Spanish delicacy with almonds.
